The Gyverpunk Omelet

Here is how I make an Omelet:

1) Take you microwave omelet maker and put an equal amount of eggs in each side.
2) Cook in intervals of 27 seconds, stirring between rounds, until the eggs are almost done
3) Add omelet innards
4) Cook for 19 seconds
5) Close omelet maker, cook for 9 seconds or until done

Really not much to it, except when deciding what to put in you omelet.  This is when the inner Gyver enters the picture.  Ye can use whatever you have in you kitchen (preferably only edible things) to fill your omelet, so go crazy!  Below I have shall list things that I put in/on mine and what I think of them and I shall update this and all Gyverpunk cooking posts as I try new things.

  • Cheese: Fairly standard omelet filler.  The many types beget many different flavours, but all are good.  My favourite is Sargento brand pepper jack cheese, as it becomes very spicy when cooked.
  • Chocolate:  In a word: Meh.  It does add an interesting chocolate flavour to the eggs, but they do not blend.  It is just like eating a plain omelet then eating melted chocolate.  It is good, but I prefer plain cheese.  The first time I did it, I used a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup, and this I do not recommend.  The chocolate part melts well, but the disk of peanut butter does not, and just sits in the omelet and tastes kind of funky when eaten with egg.
  • Mustard:  Like chocolate, this adds a good flavour, but does not mix with the egg and ye end up with the two flavours distinct and not complementing each other.  It is alright if you add enough mustard, but only if ye -- like me -- really like the taste of mustard by itself.  Also, never mix mustard, egg, and chocolate if you wish to have an enjoyable meal.
